A band sawmill carriage, also known as a band saw lathe or log carriage, is a timber-carrying and moving device used in woodworking in conjunction with a band saw. It consists of components such as tracks, a carriage body, wheels, and a measuring system. This equipment moves and transports timber via tracks, is equipped with an electric drive unit and a non-contact electromagnetic measuring system, and can achieve automatic cutting and precise positioning by incorporating an automatic feeding robot and a servo motor, greatly improving the efficiency of log cutting.

Product Usage and Features

The band saw carriage is one of the most common wood processing equipment in timber processing plants. Its function is to clamp the log and feed it into the saw.  Through CNC control, the carriage pushes the log to the appropriate position to obtain the desired board thickness.  A log turner rotates the log 360°, significantly improving log utilization.

This band saw carriage features a low center of gravity and a long wheelbase of up to 2200mm, ensuring stable operation during processing. It moves back and forth along a predetermined path, reducing errors and enabling fast sawing speeds, greatly increasing timber production efficiency.

Product Usage Instructions:

The equipment is equipped with a button control panel to control the lifting and lowering of the hook, gripping and rotating of timber, and piling actions.  Combined with a manual integrated valve for controlling the forward and backward movement of the vehicle, and an electrical button box, it is easy for workers to learn and operate.

Main component and functions

 

1.Driver’s Seat

The driver’s seat console includes control buttons and a manual integrated valve operating lever, offering integrated operation.  The driver’s seat uses the same type of seat as in automobiles, effectively relieving fatigue and discomfort during sawing. Some models of saw carriages do not have a driver’s seat component due to different structures and operating methods.

2.Piles

The piles are equipped with components such as top piles, sliding rails, hook boxes, and solenoid valves. The piles are divided into left and right piles, allowing for flexible adjustment of the hook box position. The piles are a crucial part of the carriage; their position determines the position of the gripping hooks, and therefore the applicable timber length is also determined by the pile position. The pile position can be customized according to customer requirements.

3.Steel Rails

This equipment uses custom-made No. 24 steel rails as the sliding rails under the piles, providing a hard texture and stable pile movement.

4.Log Turner

The position of the log turner is determined by the position of the piles. It serves to turn the logs to a suitable position for sawing.  Its lifting and lowering are controlled by a pneumatic cylinder, and a hydraulic motor controls the chain on the log turner for chain transmission to achieve the purpose of turning the logs.

5.Wheel Assembly

The wheels are made of cast steel and rotate with the help of embedded bearings. Each wheel is equipped with a side swing component to ensure dynamic balance during movement.

6.Traveling Mechanism

This component is the main device for the equipment’s movement. It includes a hydraulic motor and a reversing sprocket. The sprocket is fitted with a chain to achieve forward and reverse movement of the carriage.

7.Fuel Tank

This is the location of the fuel tank. This sports car uses a hydraulic-pneumatic-electric integrated system. The fuel tank stores and supplies oil to the reversing hydraulic motor, the material handling hydraulic motor, the piling cylinder, and the hydraulic pump.

8.FC25L-7.5 Hydraulic Pump

This hydraulic pump is the largest power unit of the entire equipment.  In conjunction with the fuel tank, it supplies hydraulic power to various components.

9.Upper and Lower Hook Box

The upper and lower hook tips are driven by thin cylinders to extend and retract within the hook box. An 800mm stroke cylinder, positioned vertically, works with a slider to control the lifting and lowering of the gripper, clamping the wood for sawing.

10.Three-Position Valve Group

This equipment is equipped with a three-position valve group to ensure constant pressure in the overall hydraulic system and smooth starting.

11.Planetary Gear Reducer and Servo Motor Assembly

This is the power source for the pile sliding along the guide rail. The servo drive system drives the screw and nut at the bottom of the pile through the meshing of bevel gears, enabling the forward and backward movement of the pile.

12.P206 Assembly

This assembly includes the P206 bearing and its support frame, ensuring the rotation of the drive shaft.

13.Bevel Gear Drive Shaft

Bevel gears that mesh with the piles are placed on the drive shaft, ensuring the synchronous movement of the piles.

14.Piling Cylinder

A piling plate is installed at the front of the cylinder to push the wood to the correct position for sawing.
